Do I need a licence to drive the boat?

No boating licence is needed for our 40 HP boats and the Fiat 500 Car Offshore. The Karnic SL 701, Marinello Eden 26 and Lilybaeum Levanzo 25 do require a boating licence. Alternatively, you can book them with a skipper.

How old do I have to be to drive?

The driver of a licence-free boat must be an adult. Minors can be on board with an adult.

I've never driven a boat. Can I do it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Before leaving we give two briefings: one on shore at Porto Castello on rules and route, and one on board on the controls and safety equipment. Most of our guests are driving for the first time.

How does safety on board work?

Every boat has life jackets and mandatory equipment. On your phone you get digital maps with recommended itineraries, your real-time position and the danger zones to recognise and avoid. We're reachable on WhatsApp.

How far can I go when self-driving?

Only for the standard 40 HP boat and the Fiat 500 Car Offshore, you may not continue north beyond the Salò area. This restriction does not apply to boats that require a boating licence. It is a safety limit we chose because of the distances and the sudden winds of the northern lake. Before departure we recommend the route based on wind, lake conditions, available time and your experience.

Can I go out at sunset?

What happens in bad weather?

The weather is assessed solely by our staff, based on the actual conditions at departure time. If they are not considered suitable for boating, any deposit paid is refunded or we can reschedule your booking for another date.

Is fuel included?

Yes, fuel is always included on the Fiat 500 Car Offshore and the 40 HP boat. On the boats that require a licence, Karnic, Marinello and Lilybaeum, fuel is not included. Taxes are included on all boats.

How many people does the 40 HP boat take?

Up to 5 people, of which at most 4 adults: for example 4 adults and 1 child under 12, or 2 adults and 3 children.

Is a security deposit required?

Yes, a cash security deposit is required: €300 for licence-free boats, €500 to €1,000 for boats that require a licence, depending on the model. The deposit is not a payment: we return it at the end of the rental once we've checked the boat is in proper condition.

Booking is strongly recommended. In low season we suggest booking a few days ahead to secure the boat you want. In high season you may need to book further ahead.

Can I cancel my booking?

Cancellation terms are shown during online booking and may vary by boat and rate. As a general rule, licence-free boats can be cancelled free of charge up to 72 hours before the rental starts. Stricter terms apply to boats that require a licence and to skippered tours. Always check your booking terms before confirming; if in doubt, message us on WhatsApp.

It's a boat shaped like a Fiat 500, for up to 4 people. You drive it yourself, no licence needed, or a skipper comes along. Fuel and taxes always included.

Can I choose the colour of the Fiat 500?

No: the three 500s (Capri blue, red, Tiffany green) are assigned depending on availability, the colour cannot be chosen.

You pay the cost of the damage caused. The deposit is not an insurance excess or a maximum liability limit. Following our staff's instructions and the GPS maps provided helps reduce the risk of damage.

The far north of the lake is off-limits. Shallow areas and rocks are marked on the GPS map provided.

What happens if I arrive late?

Punctuality matters to us: if you're running late, let us know straight away. The deposit holds your booking for up to 30 minutes after the agreed time; after that, our staff may reassign the boat. Arriving late doesn't move the return time, out of respect for the next bookings.

It depends on how independent the person is. Without assistance we advise against it, for safety reasons.

Are life jackets included for adults and children?

Yes, we have life jackets in several sizes, including for small children. For babies under one year, we recommend bringing your own life jacket suited to their weight and build, for a proper fit.

Where can I park?

Our rental point is in a limited-traffic zone (ZTL) and we have no private parking. The nearest car park is Monte Baldo Parking (paid), about 300 metres on foot. Plan to arrive in Sirmione well ahead of time: traffic can be heavy and spaces are limited.
